The NCR Planning Board has given a green signal to the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation for extending the route till Greater Noida. The NCR Board has preferred Metro rail over monorail. The Metro work on the Greater Noida line will start in March 2010. The 22-km long Metro line is estimated to cost Rs 6,000 crore. It will have 18 stations, six in Noida and 12 in Greater Noida.
